Hypnospace Outlaw (and a slight bit about unintentional creepiness in games)

Hi! I'm Madeline, a gay little girly on the internet who has decided she wants to take up writing a blog post or two.

This blog post is about Hypnospace Outlaw and a little bit about games being unintentionally creepy. For those that don't know, Hypnospace Outlaw is a game that sorta emulates the feeling of 90s internet and you play as a volunteer moderator.

I recently bought and started playing it and have been having fun with it, but I have been unable to shake this unsettling feeling the game gives me. I don't know what it is, maybe it's how the game uses it's fictional desktop and the use of it's apps and fake viruses, I was a decently cautious kid on the internet when I was younger so I never saw any of the real stuff so maybe that's why.

Me thinking about this also reminded me of other games being creepy and unsettling without intention. This bought me to thinking about GMod, other multiplayer games with empty maps and a few others.

Anyway, that's all for my first blog post!
